- I played around with your scene, and I found out why it is washing out
- green....

- The specularity of your ground plane affects what light is seen the
- greatest by the camera...since two of the three lights are rotating in
- towards your green light their angle of effect for the hilight for the
- specularity effect are decreased, and consequently decreased, so your
- green gets a little brighter...

- If you place the camera directly over the green light looking directly
- down, you will see a color shift (red on one end, yellow on another).

- So, if you drop your specularity of the ground to zero, you should get
- the effect you are attempting to achieve....

- I thought the same, that it was the specularity setting but it's not; it's
- the hardness setting: set it to 0 and all works. You can then control the
- brightness of the spot by how high or low you set the specularity. A
- specularity setting of 50 gives a dark gray while a setting of 255 gives a
- bright white. I set hardness at one and you can see how it works (you get a
- white area but the colors start to blend with green the dominate - 2 becomes
- even more so etc... Even if you use the specular texture the same thing
- happens - the hardness setting kills the white. The hardness is your
- villain. You need the specular to see the 'dot' on such a dark ground. The
- reflect setting is not bothering it, only the hardness
